Voters Pass $180 Million Bond Referendum for Waukee CSD

On Nov. 7, Dallas County voters approved a $180 million general obligation bond for Waukee Community School District. This decision paves the way for a decade of transformative projects that will benefit the District’s students, families, and the entire community. 

The referendum, which will be used to fund critical improvements and infrastructure needs across the District, passed with over 70% support from voters.

Projects in the bond referendum include:

  • Significant improvements to the Waukee High School auditorium and fine arts space
  • Elementary school #12
  • A northern transportation and operations center
  • A new auditorium at South Middle School
  • Track and turf replacements
  • Parking lot and roof replacements
  • Energy efficiency efforts
  • Safety and security upgrades
  • District Office expansion
  • Funds to purchase land for future sites

Superintendent Dr. Brad Buck expressed his profound gratitude to the community, saying, “We are incredibly grateful to Dallas County residents for their support. This is a testament to our community’s commitment to providing the best possible education for our students and ensuring that Waukee remains a vibrant and dynamic place to live and learn.”

Voters also passed an extension to the physical plant and equipment levy (PPEL) funding available to the District. These funds are used to support grounds improvement, equipment, repairs, remodels, and transportation.

Waukee CSD is the sixth largest—and one of the fastest-growing—districts in the state. Approval of these two measures ensures the District will continue to offer a quality education in safe, well-maintained learning environments for all students.
