- Candy Adventure Tent: Help attendees sample candy items from around the world! Volunteers will hand out candy samples to guests at the top of each hour. -Cooking Demonstrations: Volunteers will assist with the cooking demonstrations done on-site by local chefs. This includes (but is not limited to) helping set-up the demonstration area, clean-up demo area following, keeping the tent picked up and free of trash, introducing the chefs, washing dishes, assisting guests to their seats, etc. -Cultural Activities: Volunteers will assist with the programming at the Cultural Activity Pavilion tent and Cultural Stage. This includes (but is not limited to) helping set-up and teardown the presentation area for tents and stage, keeping the area picked up and free of trash, assisting guests to their seats, etc. -Event Clean-Up Crew: Volunteers on the "Clean-Up Crew" assist Festival staff during the event and after it closes. This job will likely include (but not limited to): -Moving tables, chairs and other items on and off the streets. Come prepared to lift and move items. -Setting up chairs for the Naturalization Ceremony (Friday morning only) -Setting up anything for the Cooking Challenge (Saturday morning only) - Cleaning dining tables - Monitoring trash levels and alerting trash company - Walking site for litter on streets and sidewalks - Post-event clean up will include moving tables/chairs off streets so street cleaner can come through. -Festival Set-Up: Volunteers will assist Festival Staff prior to the Festival dates to get the site set-up and ready. Duties include (but are not limited to) assisting with truck unloading, prepping materials, setting up tables and chairs, and putting together signage. -Fruit Adventure Tent: Help attendees sample fruit from around the world! Assist Melissa's Produce with handing out fruit samples every hour and talk with Festival attendees about each fruits' origin. -Information/Volunteer Booth: Volunteers stationed at the "Information/Volunteer Booth" will assist guests with their questions, direct them on-site, check-in other volunteers and assist other volunteers with information about their sites’ specific duties. Information booth volunteers might be reassigned where needed. -Merchandise: Volunteers stationed at the "Merchandise Booth" will help sell Festival merchandise. -Naturalization Ceremony (Setup and Teardown): Volunteers will setup chairs for the Naturalization Ceremony. Volunteers will also work to guide guests to the check-in area and show them to their seats. During the ceremony, volunteers work to beautify the Festival site. Following the ceremony's conclusion, volunteers will tear down the chairs. -Refrigerator Truck Attendant Assist food vendors while accessing refrigerator storage trucks. Help ensure items are organized, and not spilling into other areas. -Tear-Down Crew: Tear-Down Crew will help take down tables, chairs, cut down and remove booth banners, site signage, and other tear-down needs for a quick and easy closing of the Festival site. Must be willing to have LOTS OF FUN while doing manual labor and driving a Gator!

Hello –
The 20th anniversary of the World Food & Music Festival is less than one month away! The three-day event in Downtown Des Moines (DSM) celebrates food, music, heritage, and culture from around the world. The Festival will return to Western Gateway Park on August 23-25, 2024.
