This event is presented by the Department of Veterans Affairs and features around 20 sporting competitions for veterans who are 55 years of age and older, as a part of their health, wellness and rehabilitation goals. We are very excited to welcome over 700 veterans from around the country, to compete in ambulatory, wheelchair and visually impaired categories next month! The main venue will be the Iowa Events Center in downtown Des Moines, with various other venues around the community hosting events such as swimming(Wellmark YMCA), bowling(Great Escape in Pleasant Hill), golf(Blank golf course), track and field(Drake) and kickball(Kiwanis Miracle League field). The MidAmerican RecPlex in West Des Moines will be hosting three events at their facility as well. We are in need of volunteers to assist in various capacities at these competitions, such as: score keeping, athlete check in, retrieving balls/bean bags/horseshoes, keeping the games moving along, setup/tear down, etc. Volunteers will be given a tshirt and instructions prior to their volunteer work. Once volunteers complete a 4 hour shift, they will receive a meal voucher to get food at the venue they are working at.

Students who are 14-15 years old, will need a parental consent form. The older students are able to register independently.
