- We are looking for volunteers to assist us with several different roles the day of our NAMIWalks Iowa event in September. None of the volunteer opportunities are longer than a 2-3 time commitment and are not labor intensive.

Set Up Crew– Friday September 29- 12:00pm-4:00pm
Role: More to come on Role Titles (see description for duties associated with this volunteer opportunity)- 20 volunteers Needed for this role
Description: Duties include but not limited to- putting up banners and decorations on main shelter; carrying tables, chairs and tents to proper locations; setting up tables, chair and tents in vendor areas; putting signs/banners out in main area near amphitheater; driving or riding in a golf cart to put yard signs and or balloons along route and to direct traffic to parking lots; moving picnic tables around the complex; setting up photo backdrop; setting up registration area (A-Z signs); carrying boxes and materials from a trailer to its intended location
Desired Skills: Ability to lift over 50 pounds, ability to lift bulky objects, ability to drive/ride on golf carts, ability to be on a ladder, experience with 10×10 pop up tents
Check-in/Registration Table Helpers – Saturday September 30- 8:30-11:00
Role: T-Shirt Distributors- 2 Volunteers Needed for this role
Description: Manages t-shirt stock, takes shirts to Community State Bank volunteers, and records Walker information if needed
Desired Skills: Organization, ability to easily read spreadsheets, attention to detail
Role: Traffic Controller- 2 Volunteers Needed for this role
Description: Directs incoming traffic to registration area or lower level of amphitheater
Special instructions: Review the amphitheater map for morning activities. Walkers only need to go to registration/check-in for: 1) day-of registration, 2) pick up a t-shirt if they qualify, or 3) turn in donations/make a donation. However, encourage them to check out the vendor tables on both levels. At 9:45, kindly ask all Walkers on the upper level to make their way to the lower level for the Walk program.

Dog Zone Helper – Saturday September 30- 8:30-11:00
Role: Dog Zone Helper- 4 Volunteers Needed for this role
Description: Set out water bowls and treats, manage dog zone area, distributes treats, and ensures dog bowls are filled
Supplies needed: dry treats, chewy treats, dog bowls, large water jugs (NAMI Iowa will provide)
Special instructions: Supplies will be under table to set out. If traffic is low, have 1 volunteer weave through the crowd and let dog owners know about the treats & water bowls.
Desired Skills: Must love dogs!
Kids Zone – Saturday September 30- 8:30-11:00
Roles: Kids Zone Helper – 6 Volunteers Needed for this role
Description: Does temporary tattoos and face painting at the Kids Zone, assists kids with games at Kids Zone, hand out coloring books and crayons
Supplies needed: face paint, 4 design example sheets, water cup, brushes, paper towels, sponge, temporary tattoos, table, chairs, disposable tablecloth (NAMI Iowa will provide), games, prizes, coloring books, crayons
Special instructions: Area should be set up already. If traffic is low, have 1 volunteer weave through the crowd and let parents with kids know about the area. Iowa League of Heroes should be arriving between 9:00-9:15.
Desired Skills: Patient, good with children (arts skills are certainly welcome but not necessary!)
Clean Up/Lunch Crew- Saturday September 30- 11:00- 12:30

Description: Duties include but not limited to- taking down banners and decorations on main shelter; carrying tables, chairs and tents to vendor trailer; packing up tables, chair and tents in vendor areas; removing signs/banners in main area near amphitheater; driving or riding in a golf cart to pick up yard signs and or balloons along route and to direct traffic to parking lots; moving picnic tables around the complex; taking down photo backdrop; packing up registration area (A-Z signs); carrying boxes and materials from its location at walk site to trailer, assist with lunch after walk (TBD)
Desired Skills: Ability to lift over 50 pounds, ability to lift bulky objects, ability to drive/ride on golf carts, ability to be on a ladder, experience with 10×10 pop up tents
